Background
- 1007 BC, when David defeats Goliath, his reputation grows. Displeases King Saul, who forces David to flee Israel.
- Away, David and nephew Joab build a strong following. When Saul and his son die in a Philistine battle, David arrives. Tribe of Judah crowns him second king of Israel.
- 1003 - 970 BC, David conquers Jerusalem, makes it his capital, meets Bathsheba, and fathers Solomon. Under David's rule, Israel became strong and wealthy.
- 970 BC, David died, Solomon become king
- 960 BC, Solomon built First Temple.
- After Solomon's death, kingdom splits. His son Rehoboam rules smaller Judah from Jerusalem, while a Jeroboam rules rest of Israel. Solomon allies flee for Judah, including most priests, resulting in a center of religion. Later Judaism.
- Kingdom of Judah eventually falls to Egyptian rule, but allowed to continue under House of David. Kingdom of Israel fell into chaos.
